Dream Dinners and Dinners for Life at the FNCE Conference

October 23, 2009

Notes from Monday, October 19th

ADA Convention DFL BoothToday was day two of the American Dietetic Association’s Food & Nutrition Conference & Expo (ADA FNCE), held this week in Denver, CO and we were busy all day long at the Dream Dinners/Dinners for Life booth (#1922). Today we were able to personally talk to even more registered dietitians (RDs) than yesterday about Dream Dinners, Dinners for Life and the November launch of our diabetes friendly menu. That may seem like an impossible task but we had Cindy Farricker, MS, RD, CDE, Dream Dinners corporate dietitian, Leslie Thomson, MS, RD, Dream Dinners Seattle store owner, Terra Loftman, regional manager, Parker Colorado Dream Dinners store owner Rhiannon Cochran, Colorado Springs Dream Dinners store owner Jacki Petersen, and James Eddy owner of two Denver area Dream Dinner stores, one on South Logan Street and another in Wheatridge.

If days have themes then today was University Day where we had wonderful conversations with clinical and research dietitians, professors and associate professors from a long and distinguished list of institutions of higher learning.  Although not exhaustive this list includes folks from Baylor College of Medicine, University of Kentucky, University of Washington, University of Pennsylvania, University of Chicago, California State University, University of Northern Colorado, and Colorado State University. The dietitians are excited to try Dream Dinners for themselves as well as recommend it to their patients who have difficulty getting all the details of the dinner meal organized on their own. The professors are excited to teach their students about how meal assembly companies like Dream Dinners can be used to assist patients in making great strides in improving the quality of their diet. There was a lot of talk about how Dream Dinners meals help teach patients portion control outside of the counseling setting and that RDs can use this to complement the advice and recommendations they provide their patients.

Check back tomorrow to see how the third and final day of this year’s American Dietetic Association’s Food & Nutrition Conference & Expo goes for all of us at the Dream Dinners/Dinners for Life booth.
